Your data stays with your Hermes
Hermes Mobile is an app for talking to the Hermes Agent that you run on your own computer. We don't run a service behind it, don't have accounts, and don't collect anything. Last updated September 27, 2026.
What we collect
Nothing. The app has no analytics, no advertising, no tracking and no crash reporting, and there is no Hermes Mobile account. We (the developers) never receive your messages, files, recordings or credentials.
Where your data goes
- Your Hermes. Everything you send (messages, photos, files, voice recordings) goes to the Hermes server address you connect the app to, which you run. What happens there is governed by your Hermes setup, including any AI, speech or other providers you've configured it to use under your own accounts.
- Your device. The server address and sign-in are kept in the device's secure keychain. Recent chats, bots and sessions are cached on the device so the app opens instantly and works offline. Deleting the app deletes them.
- Push notifications (optional). If you turn notifications on, the app gets a push token from Apple or Google and gives it to your Hermes, which sends notifications through Expo's push service (650 Industries), Apple and Google. Notification titles and previews pass through those services.
- Link previews. When a message contains a web link, the phone loads that page to show a preview, so that website sees your phone's network address, as it would if you opened the link.
- A relay you choose (optional). If you connect through a relay (yours or someone else's), traffic passes through that server; its operator's policies apply.
Permissions the app asks for
- Microphone: voice messages and voice mode. Audio goes to your Hermes for transcription.
- Camera and photos: only the pictures you choose to attach.
- Face ID: to lock the app; handled entirely by iOS on your device.
- Notifications: only if you turn them on.
Children
Hermes Mobile isn't directed at children and collects no personal information from anyone.
